Lilacs
Lilacs?
How can I tell you the fragrance of lilacs?
Better to try to paint
The taste of wild strawberries
Clustered on a June bank,
Or eat rainbows
With a silver spoon,
Or touch tomorrow
Or hear a smile!
But lilacs ……
Blend
Warm rain borne on an east wind,
A haunted melody,
A day of love remembered,
Sadness cherished for a while---
Blend all dear, sad, sweet, beautiful lost things
And you will know the fragrance
Of lilacs
How can I tell you the colors
Of lilacs!
