I think this is on the farm in Illinois. What do you think? Christina again. Grandma Bert's grandmother. My dad's great grandmother. My great great grandmother. In 1900 she and Christian lived in Lake Forest, Illinois. They came to Westminister after Albert married great Grandma Johanna.

Christina Knox in Westminister or Oregon. What do you think? I think I see an orange tree behind her.

The Bravaria 1869

Grandpa Albert Knox's mom Christine Beguhl came over on the Bravaria in 1869. She was born in Mecklenberg, Germany about 1853. Notice the American flag in the front and the German flag ? in the back. She lived in Lake Forest Illinois when she met Christian (Chris) Knaak who worked for the same family as servants of some kind. He was a gardener. He was born in Losens, Posen, Preusen (Prussia). Her port of arrival was New York. She was unmarried and traveling by herself. They eventually had five sons in Ill. 1876 to 1896. She was 42 when the last one was born.

In 1906 Albert lived in San Francisco when his wife became ill with TB and he took her to Illinois to his family. While he was there he lost everything to the 1906 quake. They lived in Illinois when Albert's wife died. He left Amanda with them until he met and married Grandma Knox (Johanna) . Later his parents came to live in California (1920 they lived in Compton, CA. In 1910 he was a gate tender in Ill.) It is said that Christina brought Amanda first and Chris came later. They built a house on the square in the city of Westminister. Grandma Bert said she would climb a tree and pretend to be pirates. She said she could always talk to her Grandmother Christina. Albert and Johanna took her to live with them in Oregon after Christian died. She was blind by then. Her great grandkids remember her having marshmellow's for them tucked away in a drawer. She died in 1945 in Springfield Oregon and is buried with Christian in Westminister Memorial Park in Orange County, California.

This painting was found by Christina's gggg granddaughter Carrie on the internet. Thanks Carrie !

Me at Company Christmas Party

This is me backlite at the company Christmas party taken by Tony Romero. It is nice to have co-workers that can take a decent picture of me. Ha !! We had a great time at the Elephant Bar in Long Beach. Food was great. Co-workers were great. We had a gift exchange where you could take the one you open or you can steal the one someone else had already opened. Pretty fun. I got a great tan cloth lunch bag that fits my camera pefectly. I'm off to Kansas City tonight. Merry Christmas everybody !!
